Toby, a person with disability, and Dean, a fellow participant without disability, first met during the Songs of Diversity songwriting workshops.
They discovered a shared passion for writing music centred on unity and understanding. With their ideas flowing naturally and their musical styles aligning seamlessly, they decided to collaborate — and from this partnership, Build Bridges was born.
The song carries an uplifting message about forming connections, embracing differences, and fostering a more inclusive community. Their creative partnership and heartfelt expression resonated strongly with both audiences and judges, leading Build Bridges to emerge as the winning piece of the competition.
