Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about taking part in Songs of Diversity II: “I Believe”.
About the festival
What is Songs of Diversity II?
Songs of Diversity II is an inclusive songwriting festival that celebrates diversity and encourages persons with disabilities (PwDs) to express their experiences, perspectives, beliefs and aspirations through original songs. It brings people together through music-making to foster understanding, connection and inclusion.
Who can participate?
The festival is for PwDs of all abilities and musical backgrounds.
Members of the public can take part by writing a song together with a PwD. Caregivers, family members, friends, musicians, music producers and anyone who enjoys making music are encouraged to collaborate with PwDs in creating original songs.
Organisations are welcome to take part too.
Do I need to know how to write songs or play a musical instrument?
Not at all! You do not need prior songwriting experience or musical training. Your song can begin with a simple idea, a few words, a melody or even a sound. What matters is your willingness to express yourself creatively.
Can I participate with someone else?
Absolutely! Collaboration is encouraged. You may work with friends, family members, caregivers, musicians or producers to bring your ideas to life. We believe that music-making can be a shared and inclusive experience.
Songwriting and creativity
What should my song be about?
The theme is “I Believe”. Your song can express something meaningful to you, such as your dreams, identity, friendships, family, overcoming challenges, inclusion, belonging or your hopes for the future.
There is no single right way to interpret the theme. We encourage you to be creative and authentic.
Must my song follow a particular musical genre or style?
No. All musical genres and styles are welcome, from pop and rock to rap, electronic, instrumental or experimental music. We celebrate different forms of musical expression.
What if I can come up with lyrics but cannot compose music?
That’s perfectly fine! Songwriting can be collaborative. You may work with someone who can help you develop a melody, accompaniment or musical arrangement.
Can I use technology or AI tools to create my song?
Songs of Diversity II celebrates original human creativity. All submitted songs must feature lyrics and musical compositions created by participants or their human collaborators.
AI-generated lyrics, melodies, musical compositions, instrumental arrangements and vocals are not permitted. However, AI may be used for accessibility and technical support, such as speech-to-text, audio enhancement, mixing and mastering, provided it does not generate the song’s creative content.
Participants who require assistive technologies for songwriting or performance may contact the Organiser to discuss suitable accommodations. All AI use must be declared when you submit.
Does my song need to be professionally recorded?
No. We welcome simple recordings, including those made using a mobile phone. The focus is on your creativity, message and musical expression rather than professional production quality.
Can I submit a song that I have written previously?
Previously written songs may be considered if they are original, align with the festival’s theme and meet the submission requirements. Songs that have been published or released, or that have won a past competition, are not eligible.
Submission and selection
When is the submission deadline?

How many songs can I submit?
We welcome your creativity! There is no limit to the number of songs you can submit. Please send each song as a separate entry.
What happens after I submit my song?
Submissions will be reviewed by the Organiser. Selected works will be considered for inclusion in the I Believe music album. Songs submitted by 15 November 2026 may also be shortlisted to feature at SG Enable’s Enabling Lives Festival on 28–29 November 2026.
Will all submitted songs be included in the music album?
Not necessarily. Selected songs will be featured in the I Believe music album. However, every submission contributes to the festival’s celebration of creativity and diversity.
Will I have to perform my song live?
No. Live performance is an opportunity offered to shortlisted participants and is not a requirement for submitting a song.
Accessibility, rights and support
